Weigh Stations
Have you ever wondered what those weigh stations on the side of the interstate are really for? I never knew until I started working in the moving industry! All commercial moving trucks have to be weighed. This is important because it is not safe for a truck to be overweight as it may be difficult to maneuver, and it can cause damage to the roads.
Imagine a semi-truck traveling at 70 mph trying to quickly stop on the interstate to avoid an accident…this is why there a weight limit! If a commercial truck is over-weight, the state police will require the truck to off-load the extra weight before entering back on the interstate. Any smart mover will weigh their trucks BEFORE getting on the interstate.
