Tips and Tricks for Moving with Kids

Moving with any age child adds another level of stress to an already stressful situation. If you are moving in the summer and have the opportunity to send your child to camp or to sleep at Grandma & Grandpa’s house for a week – do it! This is less responsibility for you to take care of during the move. While this may not be an option for everyone, I recommend finding a way to lessen the stress on your plate.

If you are moving with small children, usually between ages 3-8 years old, I encourage you to take a piece of luggage or a plastic bin and have the child put their “lovies” or other favorite items into the bin so that they can keep their eyes on their loved possessions. This also gives the child some responsibility to actually pick out those items, and they are able to take part in the move!
